Why
Why is a very good question. It’s one my eldest daughter uses a lot, especially when asked to do something she doesn’t want to. Actually when asked to do anything she doesn’t want to. But that’s not the point.
Why 1thing.co.uk? Well, at the end of 2006 my wife asked me what I though were the best bits. She does this every year, but this year I found it particularly difficult to think of what the best bits were. That’s not to say that there haven’t been significant best bits. The birth of my 2nd daughter, Violet, was one of them. I just found myself stuck for an answer.
So after much thought and soul searching I decided that I would keep a diary and write what the best bits were. Then I remembered that I’d tried keeping a journal stroke diary on several occassions before and failed miserable. Once I didn’t even manage to keep it up past day one.
I’m a web developer. I’m online all day long every day. I have an electronic diary, an electronic phone book, an electronic something for nearly everything that’s paper based. So why not an electronic journal.
Hence 1thing.co.uk. This is going to be a record of one good thing that happens every day this year.
